However audacious the name may be, we’d have to agree that sublime is precisely the right word. Sublime Ailleurs is located in the heart of Marrakech’s Palmeraïe, at the foot of Atlas Mountain, surrounded by acres of gardens, with views stretching to infinity in all directions.

The accommodations include a handful of gorgeously appointed guest rooms in a traditional Moroccan ryad, serviced by a full complement of butlers, cooks and the like, and two palatial villas — each available in their entirety for those in search of more private accommodation, complete with kitchens, dining rooms, dedicated butler and maid service and a private swimming pool.

Interiors are eclectic in style; one villa is decidedly traditional, Moroccan through and through, full of ornate metal and woodwork and rich traditional fabrics, while the other is designed in a Thirties Art Deco style, all clean lines and solid colors. Meanwhile the ryad’s interiors are something of a mixture of the two, blending traditional elements and Deco design schemes, each room dressed in a different predominant color, mauve, grey, red or orange.

Guests enjoy fine Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine prepared in the hotel’s kitchen and served by the fireplace in the ryad’s salon, in the guest rooms, or anywhere on the property. Spa treatments are available, and a choice of three golf courses lies just fifteen minutes away. And from the rooftop terrace at night, the silence is extraordinary — just the sight of the vast Moroccan sky is worth the price of admission.
